It was truly a wonderful experience at the Archumen quiz contest and it brought back nostalgic memories of our days in college. The vibrancy and liveliness of students is always an inspiration and motivation to us to keep going with vigour and enthusiasm. Sincere Compliments to you and your team for putting up a show like this ... You are really doing yeomen service to archictectural academics ...

This issurely an event which deserves publicity - both, amongst students of architecture and professionals.

Ethos and the protagonist acting as the spine of the organization -Mrs.Gita Balakrishnan, has been working with the students for quite a long time, to incite the talents that mostly remain dormant. I consider myself fortunate to meet her in the very inception of my career as a student of architecture. She had not only encouraged me (us) to take part in the design competitions but also acted as a mentor to provide inspiration and boost my (our) creativity. This helped me and many other students to proliferate our knowledge and develop the required skills to stand as a confident individual in our respective fields.

Hey gita!

I'm really glad that my design is shortlisted. I can clearly see how ethos is motivating and shaping me to be a responsible professional. It was igbc'06 first which gave me the opportunity to think green initially. The chance it fetched me to visit the green building congress at bangalore proved really beneficial. You might not know, Prof. Rajan Rawal from CEPT chose me for a sponsored workshop (worth nearly 30000/-) after seeing my sheets which were pinned up there. I attended the workshop in ahmedabad and worked for him for two weeks at the CEPT energy research cell. Also, Dr. Vishal Garg from IIIT Hyderabad, chose me to work for a project with him for a week in hyderabad similarly. All because of igbc'06.

Next was archumen'06-07. Though I was just a zone finalist, it encouraged me a lot to keep my eyes and ears open to many things in architecture. I'll definitely owe my current knowledge in architecture to the preparation i put in for archumen. Lots of learnings since then.

Now it's water portal which is suggesting me to think blue and not just green. Really, I dint realize until then that my understanding of water management basics was much less than what is expected out of a layman. It suggests to me that architecture is more of practicalities than that just whims and fantasies. I'm glad that I'm choosing a related topic for my dissertation too. I couldn't imagine me choosing this for my dissertation, if not for the water portal design competition. Surely, ethos is shaping up my professional personality!

Next is archumen'07-08 awaiting to give me something new and something still better i hope. The slightest misfortune is that my academic design submission falls just a day before the event which is holding me back from putting my best to the preparations. Cos, already I'm doing quite bad at the design because of the time I had to spend for the water portal competition. Anyways, you guys are keeping my spirits high by shortlisting my entry!! I'll give my best to the academic problem now and see you soon at archumen there in bangalore! Awaiting directions and schedule for the second stage of water portal. Cos I've to plan my holidays too! Thanks a lot again!

with love for ethos,
Arun Karthik

hi,
just one sentence here but a lot of words.

"Not only has Mrs. Balakrishnan and ETHOS provided students with platforms to explore their academic skills, but also her mission has been focussed to improving the confidence and soft skills of the students who have worked with her."

all the best!
regards,
saumya

"Some things happen by chance and others by choice. We are not sure under which of these we could slot our meeting and getting to know Gita. But what we do know is what a difference it has made to us. As a student of architecture, familiarity with her is almost inevitable because she reaches out. And when she does, she touches you in more ways than one. Her genuine interest in and concern for students and the profession in general, approachability and positive outlook automatically draws one to interact with her and she immediately puts you at ease. Above all, she has demonstrated to countless inspired students that, if you know that you want to make a difference and are not scared to take the path less travelled by, there is not much that can stop you. Here’s to Gita- a sensitive architect, an exemplary professional, an inspiring teacher, a conscious citizen and above all a warm human being."

Hope it's alright. Congrats on your shortlisting into the next round. Please do let us know if there's anything else we can do.

Warm Regards,
Swetha and Sangeeta

Dear Ms Gita
